Nice review in Rave Magazine of The Silent City

A delightful journey through dark places

The Tiger And Me’s latest EP, The Silent City, is the second in a proposed trilogy. You can think of the group as an introspective version of Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros –using a multiplicity of instruments to create complex yet precise arrangements and with a penchant for abstruse lyrical narrative, which, in this case, is rather charming. The delicate harmonies and crystal-clear instrumentation, in the vein of The Middle East, evoke an exquisitely spectral atmosphere. What is striking about The Silent City is an undertone of aggression (the trilogy is intended to document “a descent into madness”) manifested in constant tension, from the stirring opener, The Smoke, to the melancholic final track, Trick or Truce. The tension comes in the form of alternating vocalists, tender, enthralling choruses and cunning control of swelling melodies. There is much to look forward to from The Tiger And Me, but there’s also a lot to enjoy right now.
